Caption :Said to be the one of the most difficult dog sleigh races in the world, the 1,000-km Great Odyssey 2008 runs from 6 to 15 January 2008. Starting in Avoriaz, France, the 25 racers - known as mushers - and 308 dogs will pass through 20 French resorts and four Swiss ones in altitudes that vary by up to 25,000 metres. Eleven nationalities are represented. The mushers at the start of the race, under the supervision of race organiser Nicolas Vanier. Avoriaz, FRANCE - 06/01/08.
